Women's XC Fourth at Ted Owen; Lieberman Sixth
Senior Mara Lieberman and Aly Gates were the Blue Devils top finishers.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team finished fourth out of nine teams at the 13th Annual Ted Owen Invitational on Saturday. The 5k race was hosted by the Blue Devils at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT and featured 87 runners. Senior Mara Lieberman crossed the finish line first for CCSU with a sixth-place finish and a time of 19:00.4.
Seven runners competed for the Blue Devils in the meet. Finishing right behind Lieberman was classmate Aly Gates. Gates placed seventh in the meet with a time of 19:04.04.
Rounding out the scoring for CCSU were sophomore Victoria Cronin, senior Jazmin Booker and freshman Madeline Mondo. Cronin finished 20th with a time of 19:40.1, Booker was 22nd with a time of 19:44.1 and Mondo was 26th with a time of 19:58.9.
Also running for the Blue Devils were juniors Brandy LeClair and Paxton McNierney who finished 31st and 40th, respectively. LeClair crossed the finish line with a time of 20:25.4 and McNierney finished in 21:05.0.
CCSU placed fourth in the team standings with 81 total points and an average team time of 19:29.6. Stonehill placed first with 35 points and was followed by Rhode Island (55) and Marist (80). New Haven (150) rounded out the top five teams.
Hartford (157), Cobleskill (188), NJIT (232) and Queens (NY) (242) rounded out the competing teams.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 10 when they travel to Boston, MA, for the 2015 New England Championships.
