Northeast Conference Announces Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll
CCSU was tabbed fifth in the poll as picked by the league's coaches.
The Northeast Conference released its Preseason Coaches Poll for the upcoming volleyball season on Thursday and Central Connecticut was tabbed fifth by the league's coaches.
The Blue Devils went 6-8 in NEC play and 12-14 overall last season. Senior Isabelle Roufs returns after earning All-Northeast Conference Second Team honors for the third time last season. Junior Lauren Milani is also back after ranking second on the team in kills per set and second in digs per set. Linda Sagnelli returns for her 23rd season as head coach of the Blue Devils. She is the program's all-time winningest coach with 347 career victories.
Sacred Heart collected five first-place votes and was tabbed the preseason favorite. LIU received two first-place nods and was second, followed by defending league champion FDU. Saint Francis U received the final first-place vote and rounded out the top four in the poll.
CCSU volleyball will open the season at the Army Invitational against Fairfield on August 25. The Blue Devils will host NJIT on August 29 for their home-opener.
The top four teams in the regular season standings will qualify for the league's postseason tournament, which will be hosted by the top seed on November 17-18.
