Here are some notes on the Blue Devils heading into Saturday:
Today • The Blue Devils (9-15, 3-11 NEC) return home to New Britain to play the Pioneers of Sacred Heart (11-14, 8-6 NEC) on Senior Day. The Blue Devils are currently in ninth place, but still have a chance at claiming one of the final spots in the Northeast Conference Tournament. Sacred Heart cliniched its playoff berth last Monday with a victory over St. Francis Brooklyn. The Pioneers won the first meeting this season in Fairfield on Jan. 20.
Series History • The Pioneers hold a 25-7 advantage in the all-time Division I series between these programs, including a 77-59 victory at the Pitt Center earlier this season. Head Coach Beryl Piper is 5-10 against the Pioneers in her career and just 1-5 against Sacred Heart at home.
About the Seniors • The Blue Devil women's basketball program is saying goodbye to four student-athletes today during a special pregame ceremony. Seniors Brooke Bailey, Jaleen Thomas, Lauren Arbogast and Jessica Babe have all contributed as starters and key reserves for the Blue Devils during their careers.
