Softball Honored with Northeast Conference Sportsmanship Award
Central Connecticut was selected as the 2011 Northeast Conference Sportsmanship Award recipient for softball. The honor was announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon. In addition to being recognized for their sportsmanship, the Blue Devils also posted their most successful Division I softball campaign in 2011, setting a new school record with 29 wins.

Montemurro Named to the NEC All-Tournament Team
Central Connecticut senior Elizabeth Montemurro was named to the 2011 Northeast Conference Softball All-Tournament Team. Central's top hurler this season, Montemurro started both of her team's games in their first NEC Tournament and allowed only three earned runs in 10.1 innings pitched.

Watch Live as Softball Opens NEC Tournament at Robert Morris
The Central Connecticut softball team will open play in their first Northeast Conference Championship Tournament against Robert Morris at 10 a.m. today. The game will be the first of the tournament hosted in Moon Township, PA, by the host Colonials. All NEC Tournament games will be broadcast live on NortheastConference.tv.

Softball Falls in NEC Tournament Opener
The Central Connecticut softball team dropped its first game of the 2011 Northeast Conference Tournament on Friday morning. The #4 Blue Devils fell to #1 Robert Morris 1-0 in their first ever NEC postseason play. Both pitchers were outstanding as neither allowed an earned run in the game. The loss drops the Blue Devils to 29-20-1 on the season, and forces them into the first elimination game of the tournament.

Softball Season Comes to an End After 8-5 Loss in NEC Tournament
The Central Connecticut softball team dropped a heartbreaking 8-5 decision to Quinnipiac in the first elimination game of the 2011 Northeast Conference Softball Championship. The game featured a three hour, six minute rain delay. The loss drops the Blue Devils to 29-22-1 on the season and ends their first NEC Tournament appearance. It also brings an end to the most successful season in CCSU Division I softball history.

Bruno Named to All-NEC Second Team
Freshman Arielle Bruno has been named to the 2011 All-Northeast Conference Second team. Bruno is the only Blue Devil to be named All-NEC this season. The announcement was made at the opening banquet of the 2011 NEC Softball Championship Tournament. Bruno led the NEC with 60 hits this season as the Blue Devils reached their first NEC Tournament.

Liz Montemurro Named Akadema/NEC Co-Pitcher of the Week
Senior Elizabeth Montemurro has been named Akadema/Northeast Conference Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. Montemurro had a dominating week as the Blue Devils qualified for their first Northeast Conference Tournament. During the week she became the Blue Devils all-time leader in victories.

Blue Devils Earn First Trip to NEC Championship Tournament
The Central Connecticut softball team has earned their first appearance in the Northeast Conference Championship Tournament. The Blue Devils finished the conference season at 11-9, but had to wait for the results of this weekend's makeup games to determine if they had reached their first ever NEC postseason. On Saturday, Monmouth split a doubleheader with Mount St. Mary's giving Central the #4 seed in the tournament.

Softball Sweeps Seton Hall, Sets New CCSU Win Record
The Central Connecticut softball team swept a senior day doubleheader from Seton Hall on Thursday. With two wins the Blue Devils are now 29-20-1 on the season. The 29 wins are the most in a season for a CCSU softball team since moving to Division I. Senior Amanda Dilworth had four hits and senior Elizabeth Montemurro earned a win and a save as the Blue Devils took game one 3-0 and game two 3-1.

Blue Devils Sweep Holy Cross
Senior Elizabeth Montemurro picked up a win and a save in a doubleheader sweep of Holy Cross on Tuesday. With her win Montemurro becomes the Blue Devils all-time leader in victories with 35. Central took game one 3-2 and game two 5-0. The sweep improves Central's record to 27-20-1 on the season, at 11-9 in the Northeast Conference the Blue Devils are still in the hunt for a spot in the NEC tournament.

Softball Sweeps Mount to Improve to 11-9 in NEC
The Central Connecticut softball team swept Mount St. Mary's on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils took game one 10-5 and then came from behind to win the second game 8-7. The wins improve Central's record to 25-20-1, and 11-9 in Northeast Conference action. The 11 wins are the most ever for a CCSU softball team in NEC play. Senior Elizabeth Montemurro earned the win in both games. She improves to 11-7 on the season.

Softball Splits Extra Inning Doubleheader at Monmouth
The Central Connecticut softball team split a pair of doubleheaders at Monmouth on Saturday. Both games went to extra innings with the Blue Devils taking a 1-0 victory. Game two reached the tenth inning and the Hawks scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 7-6 victory. Senior Elizabeth Montemurro took the decision in both games despite not allowing and earned run in 10.2 innings. The split pushes the softball team's record to 23-20-1 and 9-9 in Northeast Conference action.

Softball Splits With Fairfield on Wednesday
The Central Connecticut softball team split a doubleheader with Fairfield on Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Devils improve their record to 22-19-1 on the season. Central dropped game one 7-1 before rebounding for a 4-3 game two victory. Sophomore Kelsey Barlow went three-for-three in the first game and sophomore Stephanie Chotkevys went for three-for-three in game two.

Softball Splits Doubleheader with Long Island on Tuesday
The Central Connecticut softball team split a doubleheader with Long Island on Tuesday. The Blue Devils dropped game one 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh before rebounding for a 2-0 win in game two. Sophomore Jordan Tingley pitched a complete game shutout in game two and freshman Arielle Bruno had three hits on the day to lead the Blue Devil offense. Central is now 21-18-1 on the season an 8-8 in Northeast Conference action.

The Northeast Conference softball doubleheader scheduled for Saturday has been pushed back to 3 p.m. The games were scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., but first pitch has moved to 3 p.m. because of the weather.
