Snoddy Earns Fifth NEC Rookie of the Week Nod
Freshman Andre Snoddy of the Central Connecticut men's basketball squad was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday. Snoddy earned the honor for the second straight week and fourth time in the past five weeks.
Snoddy averaged 14.0 ppg, 12.0 rpg and shot .571 from the field last week, while playing 39.1 mpg. He has posted three straight double-doubles and has four on the year. The Melville, NY, native had 10 points, 10 rebounds and a block in a two-point loss to Wagner on Thursday. He posted eight points and eight rebounds in the second half as CCSU nearly erased a 24-point second half deficit. Snoddy followed that with a career-high 18 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists in 45 minutes in a overtime win over FDU. He scored a putback with 0:00.9 to play to send game to overtime and would finish the game shooting 8-of-14 from the field. He totaled 12 points and seven rebounds in the second half.
Snoddy is the top freshman and ranks seventh overall with 7.3 rebounds per game. He also ranks 12th in the league with a .493 field goal percentage. He scores 8.1 points and plays 28.2 minutes per game on the season.
The honor is Snoddy's fifth of the season, which is the most by a Northeast Conference rookie since Vado Morse of Mount St. Mary's won the award six times in 2018-19.
The Blue Devils play at Merrimack on Thursday.
