Scantlebury and Snoddy Earn Weekly Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Honors
Junior Nigel Scantlebury and freshman Andre Snoddy of the Central Connecticut men's basketball team earned Northeast Conference weekly basketball honors it was announced on Monday. Scantlebury was named Player of the Week and Snoddy was named Rookie of the Week for their performance during a pair of CCSU contests.
Scantlebury led CCSU averaging 20.0 ppg, while shooting .591 from the field and .667 on three-pointers. The 6-foot guard also led team in rebounding (4.5 rpg) and assists (3.0 apg) while playing 33.8 mpg. He opened the week scoring a career-high 25 points (8-10 fg, 3-3 3fg) in 32 minutes in a win over Holy Cross on Wednesday. He added four rebounds, two assists and two steals. He hit a three-pointer to open an 8-0 run in the first half that gave CCSU the lead for good and went 6-for-6 at the foul line in the final 3:26 of the game. Scantlebury followed that up with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists on Saturday at UNH. He played a season-high 35 minutes and had just 1 turnover.
Snoddy, who has started eight games this year, averaged 7.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg and shot .455 from the field last week. He also added two assists and a blocked shot while playing 24.5 minutes. The 6-foot-6 swingman scored a season-best 11 points (4-5 fg) in win over Holy Cross, including a stretch of four straight late to help CCSU push its lead to 70-65. He added three rebounds, a assist, and a blocked shot. On Sunday, he had four points, three rebounds and an assist at UNH. Snoddy went 2-of-2 at the line against the Wildcats and was 5-for-5 for the week at the foul line.
