Football Places 11 Players on Northeast Conference All-League Squads
Blue Devils place five on the first team and six on the second
Eleven members of the 2018 Central Connecticut football team were named to the league's All-Conference team on Wednesday. The Blue Devils finished the season last Saturday with an overall record of 6-4 and a league mark of 4-2, finishing in sole possession of third place.
Six members of the team were selected to the Second Team, and five were picked for the First Team.
Senior Jacob Dolegala, juniors J'Von Brown and Tajik Bagley, and sophomores DJ Exilhomme and Connor Mignone were all selected to the All-NEC First Team.
Seniors Chris Tinkham, Tymir Hinton and Courtney Rush, juniors Arthur Gilmore, Jr. and Cole Phelps and sophomore Aaron Dawson all earned Second Team honors.
Dolegala finished a stellar career with the Blue Devils as the school's all-time leader in passing yardage and touchdowns, becoming just the fifth quarterback in league history to throw for over 8,000 yards. He threw for 48 career touchdowns. As a senior he completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,221 yards and 16 touchdowns while throwing just six interceptions. He also finished fourth on the team in rushing with 274 yards on the ground to go along with six rushing touchdowns.
Brown and Mignone, a First Team selection for the second straight season, along with Phelps, helped pace a Blue Devil offensive line that allowed the Blue Devils to post 289.3 rushing yards per game in six conference games. They had 2,460 total rushing yards on the season.
Exilhomme emerged in his second season with the Blue Devils and led the team in tackles with 74 tackles on the season. He also added four forced fumbles, an interception and five pass break-ups.
Bagley was fourth on the team in tackles with 50 and was second on the team with nine pass break-ups on the season.
Dawson led the team in rushing as a sophomore with 896 yards on 122 carries, averaging 7.3 yards per carry. He led the team with 13 touchdowns on the ground and 14 total touchdowns on the season. Tinkham had 31 tackles on the season to go along with six tackles for a loss and a pair of sacks.
Hinton was fifth on the team in tackles with 43, including a sack, one interception and three pass break-ups.
Rush was third on the team with 27 receptions for a team-high 567 yards and four touchdowns. Gilmore caught 16 passes for 223 yards and four scores.
