The Blue Devils were tabbed the preseason favorite, collecting five first-place votes from the league's coaches. Duquesne was tabbed second, followed by Bryant, with each collecting a single first-place vote. CCSU closes out the regular-season at home against the Dukes on Nov. 17.

Central's offense, which is slated to return eight starters, had four players named to the Preseason All-NEC Team. Leading the returnees was senior quarterback Jacob Dolegala. The Blue Devils advanced to the NCAA FCS Playoffs in 2017 for the first time at 21st-ranked New Hampshire.
