Groth, McQuillan Named All-New England Selections
Seniors also earned All-Conference honors this season
Seniors Ed Groth and Shane McQuillan added New England Football Writers All-New England selections to their post-season resumes on Tuesday. Last week the pair were also named All-Northeast Conference selections.
McQuillan, who played two seasons with the Blue Devils, helped lead an offensive line that saw the Blue Devils produce 3,944 yards of total offense on the year, including a program-high 2,939 yards in the air.
Groth was named to the squad as a punter and a placekicker. Groth punted 30 times on the season for an average of 39.9 yards per punt with eight placed inside the 20.
As a placekicker he was 12-of-16 on field goal attempts and 25-of-25 on extra points as he led the team with 61 points on the season.
Groth finished his career with 140 career points, good for eighth place in school history. His 26 career field goals were third best all-time.
