Seven Blue Devils Earn All-NEC Postseason Honors
Groth, LaGuerre and McQuillan earn First Team All-Conference honors
Seven members of the Central Connecticut football team were named All-Conference on Wednesday, it was announced by the Northeast Conference office. Three Blue Devils were picked to the first team while five more to the second. Senior kicker Ed Groth was named to the First Team as a punter, and the Second Team as a kicker.
Joining Groth on the first team are junior captain Randall Laguerre (linebacker) and senior offensive lineman Shane McQuillan.
Joining Groth on the second team are junior wideout Joey Fields, senior defensive lineman Asia Bolling, junior running back Cameron Nash and freshman offensive lineman J'Von Brown.

Groth punted 30 times on the season for an average of 39.9 yards per punt with eight placed inside the 20. As a placekicker he was 12-of-16 on field goal attempts and 25-of-25 on extra points as he led the team with 61 points on the season.
McQuillan helped lead an offensive line that saw the Blue Devils produce 3,944 yards of total offense on the year, including a program-high 2,939 yards in the air.
Laguerre produced one of the best defensive seasons in school history, registering 116 total tackles in 11 games, leading the league in that category. He averaged 10.5 tackles per game and had 10 or more tackles in a game six times, including a season-high 14 against Wagner. He did not have fewer than seven tackles in a game all season and also recovered two fumbles, an interception and a pair of sacks.
Fields led the Blue Devils with 46 receptions on the season, good for 732 yards and six touchdowns. He had a catch in every game and at least five catches in a game six times, including each of the last five games. He caught 28 balls in the final five games of the season.
Brown also helped lead an offensive line that saw the Blue Devils produce 3,944 yards of total offense on the year, including a program-high 2,939 yards in the air.
Nash led the Blue Devils in rushing this season with 149 carries for 632 yards and four touchdowns. He also finished third on the team in receptions with 36, good for 248 yards, giving him 880 combined yards this season.
Bolling finished the season with 38 tackles, 15 solo, a sack and 4.5 tackles for a loss.
