Dugan Scores 12 in Season-Opener, Blue Devils Lose at USF
Sophomore Kerrianne Dugan had 12 points to lead Central Connecticut (0-1) in a 100-41 season-opening loss against host University of South Florida (1-0) at the USF Shootout. Freshman Gabrielle Oglesby added five points and a game-high 10 rebounds for the Blue Devils. Sophomore Justina Udenze, meanwhile, scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds. CCSU will face Harvard in the consolation game tomorrow at 12 p.m.

Central Connecticut never led in the game, falling behind 14-2 just over three minutes into play. USF stretched its lead to 33-13 midway through the opening 20 minutes and climbed out to a 53-18 halftime advantage.
The Bulls shot 56.8 percent from the field, outscored CCSU 24-8 in the paint and had 23 points off 16 Blue Devil turnovers. Junior Alexis Givands led USF with 16 first half points. She was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Oglesby had all of her points in the first half to pace the Blue Devils. She also grabbed seven rebounds.
USF continued to stretch its lead out in the second half, starting the period on a 25-4 run. The 100-41 final was the game's largest margin.
Central Connecticut junior captain P.J. Wade added five points, eight rebounds and three assists. Givands and junior Janae Stokes led USF with 20 points apiece. Givands also had eight rebounds. Freshman Jasmine Wynne had 15 points, seven assists and four steals.
The Blue Devils will face Harvard, which lost 78-69 against Loyola (MD) in the tournament's first game, in tomorrow's consolation game. Opening tip is scheduled for 12 p.m.
