Brawner Leads Women's Cross Country to Fifth Place at the CCSU Mini Meet
Rookie Megan Brawner placed 14th overall in the women's 3K with a time of 10:38.1.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team had a quality showing at its own 15th Annual Mini Meet on Friday afternoon at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils placed fifth overally out of 21 other Division 1 schools. Leading head coach Eric Blake's team in was rookie Megan Brawner who finished in 14th place with a time of 10:38.1.
CCSU scored 191 points just one point shy of fourth place Monmouth with 190 total points.
Shortly behind the freshman was junior Madeline Mondo who completed the 3K course in 10:39.9 in 18th place. Prior to Friday's meet, Mondo recorded the top-team finish for the Blue Devils in each of their previous competitions.
Junior Dawn Hubbell and freshman Angie Rafter crossed the finish line one after the other in 37th and 38th place with times of 10:55.6 and 10:56.0, respectively.
The last three Central runners came in all within 20 seconds of each other. First was freshman Kaitlyn Stevens at 11:24.5, then senior Olivia Mondo in 11:34.6 and junior Morgan Ricci rounded out a fine day for the blue and white.
Two freshmen Kailyn Accetura and Shannon Thompson represented CCSU in the sub varsity race following varsity.
The University of New Hampshire won the meet with a team-best 45 points including the individual champion Shannon Murdock.
