Men's and Women's Cross Country Receives USTFCCCA 2017 All-Academic Team Award
Both the men's and women's cross country teams were recognized for their excellence in the classroom on Friday by the USTFCCCA.
Displaying excellence in the classroom and on the competition field, the student-athletes of the Central Connecticut men's and women's cross country teams were acknowledged by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Friday, February 9. Both teams were named to the 2017 NCAA Division I Cross Country All-Academic lists for achieving a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale.
The women's team earned a combined GPA of 3.16, and the men finished with a 3.08 GPA for the fall of 2017.
The eight-time Northeast Conference defending champion Cental Connecticut men's team was one of 195 Division I programs, and the 2017 NEC Runner-Up CCSU women's team was one of 228 Division I programs to earn All-Academic honors across the nation.
Both teams were one of three Northeast Conference representatives to receive the national nod. On the men's side the Blue Devils joined Saint Francis U. (3.58), Sacred Heart (3.38) and Bryant (3.37). CCSU women accompanied Saint Francis U. (3.73), Sacred Heart (3.46) and LIU Brooklyn (3.24) on the national list.
