Season
Sagnelli Inks Two More For Upcoming Season

Central Connecticut head volleyball coach Linda Sagnelli announced the final two National Letter of Intent signings for the 2009 season. Mary Kate Schmidt, an outside hitter and right side from Evergreen Park, IL, and Blaike King, an outside hitter from Carson City, NV, have both committed to the CCSU program.

Central Connecticut head volleyball coach Linda Sagnelli announced two National Letter of Intent signings for the 2009 season. Jamie Rademacher, a middle hitter from New Lenox, IL, and Emily Cochran, an outside hitter from Adel, IA, both committed to CCSU during the early signing period.

Volleyball To Compete In 6th Straight NEC Tournament Starting Today

The Central Connecticut volleyball team will be competing in the Northeast Conference Tournament for the sixth year in a row this weekend in Moon Township, PA. The Blue Devils are the third seed in the tournament, finishing with an NEC record of 5-3, and will play sixth seeded Sacred Heart in a quarterfinal match on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

CCSU Places Three Players On All-NEC Volleyball Teams

Senior captain Amanda Olmstead and sophomore Lauren Snyder were selected to the the All-Northeast Conference First Team, while junior Jamie Baumert received All-NEC Second Team honors. This marks the first time in Olmstead's career she received All-NEC accolades, while Baumert has been on the all conference teams for three straight years at CCSU. Snyder also recieved the honors last year in her first season in New Britain. The awards were presented on Friday evening at the NEC banquet on the eve of the conference tournament. The Championships are being held at Robert Morris University.

Petrella Records Season Best 28 Digs, CCSU Falls in NEC Quarterfinal

Sophomore Kaitlin Petrella tallied a match best 28 digs, but the Central Connecticut (11-14) volleyball team fell to Sacred Heart (18-12) in the quarterfinals of the Northeast Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon in Moon Township, PA. Sophomore Lauren Snyder finished with a team high 11 kills and added nine digs for the Blue Devils in their final match of the season.

Snyder's 10 Kills Leads Blue Devils in Loss at Robert Morris

Lauren Snyder had a team-high 10 kills as the Central Connecticut women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Robert Morris on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils finish the regular season with an 11-13 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the Northeast Conference. The Blue Devils will return to Robert Morris this weekend for the NEC Tournament.

Olmstead, Snyder Combine for 36 Kills in 3-1 Victory at St. Francis (PA)

The Central Connecticut volleyball team posted a 3-1 victory over St. Francis (PA) on the road on Saturday in the first match of their Pennsylvania swing to end the regular season. CCSU, now 11-12 overall and 5-2 in the Northeast Conference, were led by Amanda Olmstead and Lauren Snyder who each posted 18 kills in the victory. CCSU plays on Sunday at Robert Morris to end the regular season.

Blue Devils Sweep St. Francis (NY) On Senior Day

Senior captain Amanda Olmstead recorded 12 kills and six digs, while junior Jamie Baumert tallied 11 kills and eight blocks as the Central Connecticut (10-12, 4-2) volleyball team swept St. Francis (NY) (0-29, 0-5), 3-0, on Senior Day at Detrick Gymnasium. Senior captains Olmstead and Jenna Quadrozzi, as well as senior manager Laura Baker were honored before the match on Saturday.

Baumert Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All District Team

Junior Jamie Baumert was awarded for her performance on and off the court, receiving ESPN The Magazine Academic All District 1 honors. Baumert earned a second team spot for her accomplishments this year. The Elkhorn, NE native is an elementary education major at CCSU.

Blue Devils Roll Past Bryant, 3-0

Senior captain Amanda Olmstead accumulated double digit kills for the eighth match in a row and the Central Connecticut (9-12) volleyball team defeated Bryant_16-16), 3-0, at Detrick Gymnasium on Wednesday night. The Blue Devils have now won five of their last six matches, recording three sweeps in the process. Olmstead tallied a match best 13 kills on .231 hitting percentage, while adding nine digs, three blocks and two aces.

Baumert Named NEC Player of the Week For Career Day

Jamie Baumert was name Northeast Conference Player of the Week for her outstanding play this week against Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson. The junior recorded a career high of 13 blocks against the Pioneers on Thursday. She followed her career day with a 17 kill outing on Saturday to defeat the Knights.

Bayer, Olmstead Lead CCSU Past FDU, 3-1

Sophomore Amanda Bayer tallied a match best 50 assists while recording 11 digs to lead the Central Connecticut volleyball team (8-12, 3-2) past Fairleigh Dickinson (14-11, 2-2) on the road Saturday afternoon, 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16). Senior captain Amanda Olmstead added 17 kills and nine digs to help the Blue Devils improve to 8-12 on the season and move back above .500 in NEC action.

Baumert Blocks to a Career High, Blue Devils Fall to Sacred Heart

Junior Jamie Baumert recorded a career high 13 blocks, but the Central Connecticut volleyball team (7-12, 2-2) fell to Sacred Heart (16-9, 3-1) at home Thursday night, by a score of 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 28-26). Sophomore setter Amanda Bayer helped the Blue Devils stay in the match, tallying a team high 28 assists, 13 digs, three aces and three blocks.

Volleyball Gets Road NEC Victory Over Quinnipiac, 3-1

Sophomore libero Kaitlin Petrella moved into eighth place in CCSU history for career digs, and the Central Connecticut (7-11, 2-1) volleyball team defeated Quinnipiac (3-23, 0-3) on the road, 3-1 (25-11, 19-25, 25-22, 25-15). Petrella recorded a match high 17 digs and now has 826 for her career and is 70 shy of seventh place all time. Fellow sophomore Lauren Snyder notched her third double-double of the season, tallying 15 kills and 10 digs in the victory.

CCSU Volleyball Set to Participate in Dig Pink Event

The Central Connecticut volleyball team, in conjunction with Quinnipiac Volleyball, will be participating in the Dig Pink event on Friday, October 24. Dig Pink is the Breast Cancer awareness rally being held all of October 2008 to raise money for breast cancer research. During their 7:00 p.m. match, Quinnipiac will be collecting donations and giving away prizes to raise money during this National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Olmstead and Bayer Guide Blue Devils to Conference Home Win

Central Connecticut (6-11, 1-1) collected a 3-0 Northeast Conference home win over Wagner (2-14, 0-2). Senior Amanda Olmstead led the Blue Devils with a match-best 11 kills, 10 digs and three blocks. Sophomore Amanda Bayer added a match-high 36 assists, 11 digs and five service aces in the win.
