Women's Track and Field Tied for First After Opening Day at NEC Indoor Championships
Central Connecticut finds itself tied atop the team standings at the Northeast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships following the opening day at Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility in Staten Island, NY. Central finished the opening day of competition with three medal-winning performances.
The Blue Devils are tied with Sacred Heart with 24 points.

TOP PERFORMANCES
- 60m Hurdles - Freshman Alissa Hurd was CCSU's top finisher clocking a 9.72 in the first heat of the day and placing 13th overall.
- 60m Dash - Freshman Livvy Pizzitola ran an 8.03, clocking the 11th-fastest time in the prelims.
- 400m Dash - Sophomore Magnalen Camara qualified for Monday's final, clocking a 58.94, the fourth fastest time in the prelims.
- 800m Run - Sophomore Ashley Dana qualified for Monday's final, turning in a 2:21.35 to qualify with the fourth-best time.
- 200m Dash - Camara ran a 25.89 to earn a top-10 time in the prelims on Sunday.
- 3000m Run - Junior Angie Rafter won the event in 9:52.56, edging out teammate sophomore Brooke Morabito (9:56.74).
- Long Jump - Sophomore Aaliyah Walker won bronze for CCSU with a leap of 5.31m.
