Women's Soccer Pulls Away Late, Downs Mount St. Mary's 4-1
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team capped an unbeaten regular season with a 4-1 win over Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday at CCSU Soccer Field. The Blue Devils got goals from four different scorers, with three tallies coming in the final 11:42 of the game to pull away. With the win, Central earns a spot in the Northeast Conference championship game this weekend.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central had several early scoring chances, but the Mount kept the game scoreless for much of the first half. The Blue Devils managed to open the scoring in the 32nd minute when freshman Kelly Brady got a pass from junior Zoe McGlynn and sent her shot past the keeper to make it 1-0.
- Mount was held without a shot until the 42nd minute when Elisabeth Rockhill managed to bring the ball forward and sent a shot from the top of the penalty box into the upper corner of the net to tie the score.
- The game remained deadlocked until just over 10 minutes remained. Junior Jamie Collimore had the ball and dribbled to create space and sent a low shot from near the top of the penalty area to make it 2-1 at the 79:18 mark.
- Central would add to its lead with 5:54 to play when senior Jenna Rae Covello found junior Delaney Lawler open in front of the net and she tapped it home. With 2:28 to play, CCSU won a corner and senior Erica Bardes' kick was headed home by junior Taylor Smith at the far post to make it 4-1.
NOTES
- Brady's goal was her third of the season to tie Covello for the team lead. Brady leads CCSU with nine points.
- Central outshot Mount St. Mary's, 29-2, in the game and had a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.
- Sophomore Caitlin Murphy earned her first start of the season in net and earned the win.
- CCSU capped its regular season with a 6-0-0 mark. Since 2018, the Blue Devils have gone 35-7-6 in the past three seasons. During that time, CCSU is 22-1-1 in Northeast Conference play. Central has gone 34-5-1 against NEC opponents since 2016.
- The Blue Devils are 28-0-3 in their last 31 home contests dating back to September 3, 2017. CCSU lost 3-0 to UConn. The last NEC team to win at CCSU Soccer Field is Fairleigh Dickinson on October 23, 2016 (2-0).
- Central is ranked 7th in the latest United Soccer Coaches North Region Poll (APRIL 13)
