Northeast Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Poll Announced
The Central Connecticut men's indoor track and field team was picked second in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll announced by the conference on Thursday. Three teams earned first place votes including Central which received three. The league championship is slated for Feb. 20-21 at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, NY
Wagner was picked as the preseason favorite and earned six first place nods.
CCSU, which won the cross country championship in the fall, has a roster loaded in search of its first indoor title since 2011. The Blue Devils return a nucleus of sprinters including senior Cam Whalen and sophomores Ali Diaby and Jovan Dixon, who earned First Team All-NEC honors during the outdoor season. Among the strong contingent of distance runners will be sophomore Eddie Nicholas, who won the individual cross country championship in the fall.
The men's indoor track and field team opens the season at the Wagner College Invitational on Friday, January 7.
