Men's Soccer Falls at UConn in Teams' First Meeting
The Blue Devils and Huskies were tied in the first half before UConn scored a pair of goals.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team faced UConn for the first time on Tuesday night, falling 3-1 in Storrs, CT. CCSU outshot the Huskies and were tied early in the opening half before the home team scored just before halftime to go ahead and then added a late insurance goal.
The Blue Devils will open Northeast Conference play on Sunday at home against LIU. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils were on the offensive in the early-going with Austin Rocke getting off the first shot of the night a minute into the contest. Central would have a shot on goal in the 15th minute, but Ola Telje's attempt was stopped by Clayton Knibbs.
- The Huskies opened the scoring in the 20th minute after Mikah Thomas sent a long cross into the area that Adil Iggoute headed back across the goal, where Greg MacLean headed it in.
- CCSU would even the game in the 31st minute on a penalty kick. Rocke would take the penalty for CCSU and converted to make it 1-1
- Joey Saputo would score the first of his two goals on the night just before halftime. He would score the go-ahead goal at 42:13 when he headed down a cross from Mikah Thomas. He would score his second of the night with just over 20 minutes to play. He would finish off of a string of passes from Eli Conway and Nicolas Tomerius to poke home his shot from close range to close out the scoring.

NOTES
- Central outshot UConn, 11-8, in the match and had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
- Rocke had a team-high five shots for CCSU and scored his second goal of the year.
- Daniel Wilmore made one save in the contest.
