Men's Basketball's Wins Third Straight, 67-51, Over Brown at Home on Wednesday Night
Juniors Robby Ptacek and Ken Horton combined for 35 points and 15 rebounds as Central Connecticut ran its winning streak to three games with a 67-51 home victory over Brown on Wednesday night. The win moves the Blue Devils to 7-5 overall and a perfect 4-0 at home this season. They return to action on Monday night hosting UMass at 7 p.m.

Horton combined for 35 points and 15 rebounds as Central
Connecticut ran its winning streak to three games with a 67-51 home
victory over Brown on Wednesday night. The win moves the Blue
Devils to 7-5 overall and a perfect 4-0 at home this season. They
return to action on Monday night hosting UMass at 7 p.m.
Ptacek had game-highs of 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the
attack for the Blue Devils, who won their third straight
non-conference game on their home floor.
Horton added 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four
steals for one of his best all-around games of the season. The
Blue Devils led by as many as 23 in the second half after building
a 38-24 lead at halftime.
Central trailed early, 14-10, but used a 17-4 run to turn things
around before halftime. They would not trail again after the 14-10
deficit turned into a 20-14 lead following a 10-0 run.
Central outscored Brown 28-10 in the final 11 minutes of the first
half, and that was the difference in the game.
Brown shot only 34.8 percent from the floor, missing 30 of its 46
shots from the floor. They hit on just 4-of-21 from three, a
dismal 19 percent.
In the second half Central built a 62-39 lead with 7:07 on the
clock following a three-point play from Ptacek. The three points
capped an 18-8 run by the Blue Devils that pushed a 13 point lead
into a 23 point lead, their largest of the game.
Central shot 47.4 percent, hitting 27-of-57 from the floor,
including 23-of-46 from inside three. They held a 38-20 advantage
in points in the paint. They also assisted on 16-of-27 field
goals, and turned the ball over only 12 times, four of them in the
second half. It marks the third straight game with at least 16
assists, and with more assists than turnovers.
Senior Shemik
Thompson added six points, six rebounds, five assists and two
steals in the victory. He is fifth all-time in CCSU history in
career steals with 164 after tonight's game. He also moved into
fifth place on the all-time assists list in the game. He passes
Dave Corbitt and now has 374 career assists.
Junior Chris
Baskerville had a productive 21 minutes off the bench
contributing seven points and four rebounds. He was 3-of-4 from
the field. The Blue Devils outrebounded Brown 40-29 in the
victory.
