Men's Hoop Falls at Providence on Monday Night to Move to 4-2 Overall
The Central Connecticut men's basketball team trailed by just one at halftime, but Providence College used a strong second half to come away with a 92-57 victory on Monday night. The Blue Devils are now 4-2 on the year and will return to conference play on Saturday on the road at Fairleigh Dickinson at 4 p.m. Junior Ken Horton led the offense with 15 points, including 13 in the first half.

one at halftime, but Providence College used a strong second half
to come away with a 92-57 victory on Monday night. The Blue Devils
are now 4-2 on the year and will return to conference play on
Saturday on the road at Fairleigh Dickinson at 4 p.m.

Horton led the offense with 15 points, including 13 in the
first half.
The Blue Devils fell behind 13-2 after hitting just one of their
first eight shots from the field. They used a 27-7 run over the
next nine minutes to take a 29-20 lead with 6:11 on the clock.
Providence climbed back and took a 38-35 lead after an 18-6 run of
their own. A jumper at the first half buzzer cut the lead to 38-37
at halftime, the Blue Devils trailed by just one.
Central hit 15-of-34 from the field in the first half after
starting just 1-of-8. They were 3-of-13 from three and had only
six turnovers before the break. Horton led all scorers at
halftime with 13 points, he was 5-of-10 from the field. Junior Robby
Ptacek added 11 and senior Shemik
Thompson had seven to go along with a pair of rebounds.
With the game tied at 43, the Friars used a 18-4 run to build a
61-47 lead with 11:49 on the clock. They built a 47-45 lead to
58-45 in a four minute span that the Blue Devils went without a
point.
A Friar run reached 17-0 before a pair of free-throws from junior
Vince
Rosario cut the lead to 75-49 with under eight minutes to play
in the game.
Horton led the Blue Devil offense with 15 points, while Ptacek
added 13 in the loss. Central shot poorly in the second half after
shooting 44 percent from the field before halftime. They hit only
8-of-23 from the field in the second half, while the Friars hit on
21-of-33, good for 6.6 percent. Marshon Brooks led the Friar
attack with 26 points while Gerard Coleman added 14 in the win.
The Blue Devils return to conference action at Fairleigh Dickinson
on Saturday at 4 p.m. Following the game at FDU they will play two
more on the road next week, at Dayton and at Albany.
