J'Von Brown Named STATS FCS Preseason All-American
Senior offensive lineman earns his third preseason honor this summer
Central Connecticut senior offensive lineman J'Von Brown was named to the STATS FCS Preseason All-America Team on Tuesday. Earlier this summer Brown was named to the Athlon FCS Preseason All-America Team, and last week he was honored with Preseason All-Northeast Conference honors. The senior is one of five lineman in the country to be named to the STATS First Team. He is one of two NEC players on the First Team.
STATS PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA RELEASE
Brown was a Second Team STATS FCS All-America selection a season ago as a junior in 2018.
Brown, who earned All-Conference, All-ECAC and All-New England honors following the 2018 season, is the second offensive lineman to earn All-America status in the last two seasons. Linemate Connor Mignone, who will be a junior in 2019, was a freshman All-American selection in 2017 and also earned All-Conference and All-ECAC honors last season.
Brown helped anchor an offensive line that allowed the Blue Devils to post 289.3 rushing yards per game in six conference games. They had 2,460 total rushing yards on the season and posted the nation's 21st best rushing attack at 223.6 yards per game on the ground. They also allowed just 0.73 sacks per game on the year, the seventh best total in the entire country. They allowed just eight sacks in 11 games. The Blue Devils led the country allowing just 32 tackles for a loss in the entire season.
Central finished the season 6-5 overall and 4-2 in Northeast Conference play, good for a third place finish after winning the NEC title in 2017. The Blue Devils finished 20th in the nation in points per game (33.8) and led the league in that category.
Last week CCSU was picked to finish third in the NEC Preseason Coaches Poll.
