Allison and Izzo will be honored at the annual New England Football
Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 9 at the
Montvale Plaza in Stoneham, Mass. In total, four FCS conferences
were represented in this year's squad and the list is made up of 21
seniors, eight juniors and just one sophomore.
Allison lived up to his billing as a preseason All-Northeast
Conference selection in 2010. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Allison
served as a team captain and was the leader of a line that paved
the way for the NEC's top-ranked rushing attack (212.5 ypg).
Allison was also named to the NEC First Team last week.
Izzo matched a single-season program record by nailing 13 field
goals and earns first team honors at placekicker as a result.
Izzo's 86.7 percent conversion rate (13-of-15) was tops amongst NEC
field goal kickers. The Connecticut native accounted for 74 points
this season, including a game-winning three-pointer in overtime at
Albany. He was also a First Team All-NEC pick in 2010.
The Blue Devils finished the 2010 season 8-3 overall and 7-1 in NEC
action, good for a share of their second straight NEC title and
their fourth overall since 2004.
