Freshman Chris Linares Named Northeast Conference Football Rookie of the Week
Central Connecticut State University freshman defensive back Chris Linares was named the Northeast Conference football Rookie of the Week on Monday, it was announced by the conference office. Linares and the Blue Devils defeated Bentley University 45-14 on Saturday in New Britain, marking the 10th straight home win for CCSU. A local product out of New Britain, Linares was playing in his first ever home game for the Blue Devils.

Linares and the Blue Devils defeated Bentley University 45-14 on
Saturday in New Britain, marking the 10th straight home win for
CCSU. A local product out of New Britain, Linares was playing in
his first ever home game for the Blue Devils.
Linares made two solo tackles along with his biggest play as a
collegian during Central Connecticut's 45-14 thumping of Bentlley.
His first career takeaway came on a second-quarter interception
that allowed CCSU to extend its lead.
One play after the Blue Devils took a 21-14 lead, Linares put the
ball right back in the offense's hands. The New Britain product
picked off a pass in Bentley territory, eventually leading to a
CCSU field goal that extended the lead to 24-14.
Linares and the Blue Devils go back to the road this weekend to
face Youngstown State on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m.
