KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils scored two runs in the top of the first with Hunter Pasqualini scoring on a balk and Jeff Nicol singling in a run to spot a 2-0 lead for the visitors.
- In the bottom of the first, Merrimack had its first two batters reach base safely and would load the bases following a one-out single. After a strikeout, Christian Gemelli hit a grand slam to make it 4-2, but that would be all the Warriors scored on the day.
- Central regained the lead in the third. Brady Short singled to open the inning and Pasqualini was hit by a pitch with one out. Ramon Jimenez would clear the bases with a homerun to make it 5-4.
- CCSU padded its lead with a run in the seventh after Kyle Gordon singled and moved to second on an error. After moving to third on a fielder's choice, he would score on a sac fly by Jimenez to make it 6-4.
- Central plated seven runs across the eighth and ninth innings to push the game out of reach. Gordon singled in two runs in the seventh, while Pasqualini hit a sacrifice fly and Jimenez had an RBI single to push the lead to 10-4.
- The Blue Devils rounded out the scoring in the ninth with back-to-back home runs. Mike Torniero hit a two-run homer and was followed by a solo homer by Gianno Merlonghi to make it 13-4.
NOTES
- CCSU leads the all-time series 7-1 between the schools at the Division I level. Central has won seven straight meetings.
- Anthony Mozzicato won his third straight decision and has lost just one decision dating back to April 24, 2022. He has gone 5-1 across 10 starts in that time.
- Mozzicato, TJ Wainwright and Vincent Spizzoucco combined to allow just five hits after the first inning. The Warriors did not have a runner reach third base in the last eight frames of the game.
- The Blue Devils have hit back-to-back home runs in consecutive games.
- CCSU had six hitter collect at least two hits in the game. Nicol went 3-for-4 and drove in a run.
- Elliot Good went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
