Baseball Opens Season at Bethune-Cookman

The Central Connecticut baseball team opens 2020 season on Friday, Feb. 21 at Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, FL. The Blue Devils and Wildcats will play a three-game series at Jackie Robinson Ballpark
The series-opener will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night. The squads will play at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, with a single game each day. BCU is off to a 3-1 start, but lost to FIU on Feb. 18 in its last contest.
The Blue Devils were tabbed as the Northeast Conference preseason favorites by the league's coaches. CCSU went 31-23 in 2019 and won the program's sixth conference title under head coach Charlie Hickey. The Blue Devils posted a 7-4 win over #24 Cal for the program's first NCAA Tournament win and have won two NEC titles in the past three seasons and return a core of nine players who have played on both championship squads. Seniors Chandler Debrosse, Buddy Dewaine, Chris Kanios and Buddy Dewaine are back in the Blue Devils' lineup, while seniors Andrew Braun, Brandon Fox and Michael Delease lend experience to the pitching staff.
Central will play in the RussMatt Central Floriday Invitational on Feb. 28-March 1 before hosting Hartford in its home-opener on March 3.
