Men's Cross Country Takes First Place at the 14th Ted Owen Invitational
Blue Devil runners compete at Stanley Quarter Park.
The Central Connecticut men's cross country team placed first among a field nine teams on Saturday morning at the 14th annual Ted Owen Invitational held at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. Central had six runners finish in the top 21 in a field of 106 runners.
Leading the way for the Blue Devil runners were two sophomores, Alex Norstrom and Austin Trainor. Norstrom and Trainor finished the 8k course in fifth and seventh places, respectively, with times of 25:49.7 and 26:08.0.
Close behind the two lead runners for CCSU was junior Colin Sauter who finished 12th overall at 26:47.8. The 17th and 18th runners were seniors Derek French and Malcolm Connor. The veterans averaged a pace of 5:25.7 and 5:27.1, respectively, and turned in times of 26:56.60 and 27:05.50.
Freshman Richard Grudzwick also ran, turning in a time of 27:13.30. Junior Eric Davidson turned in a time of 27:43.10.
The Blue Devils are back in action at Franklin Park in Boston, MA, on Saturday, October 8 when they run at the New England Championships.
