CCSU Women's Soccer Drops 3-1 Decision at UConn on Monday Night
Connecticut scored three times in the first 23 minutes as the Central Connecticut State University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision on the road to the Huskies on Monday night. The loss is the first of the season for CCSU. Senior Leah Blayney scored her third goal of the season in the loss. CCSU is off until Friday when they play on the road at Holy Cross.

The Huskies scored quickly in the first half to take the 3-0
advantage. The game was scoreless until Meghan Cunningham's shot
from the top of the box beat Central keeper Caity Casey to give
Connecticut the 1-0. Less than four minutes later Linda Ruutu
scord the first of her two goals to give UConn the two goal edge.
Ruutu scored again at 23:03, her third goal of the season, and the
Huskies led 3-0.
Blayney's goal, her third of the season, came at 36:21 off an
assist from Beth Lloyd. Her shot from
outside the box beat Connecticut goalkeeper Ally Mancino in the top
right of the goal, making it 3-1.
Casey would finish the game with five saves for the Blue
Devils. She suffered her first loss of the season, dropping to
2-1-1 on the year. Connecticut outshot CCSU 19-11 in the game,
including 8-4 in shots on goal.
CCSU returns to action on Friday at Holy Cross beginning at 5 p.m.
They will also travel to Hartford on Sunday to face the Hawks at 2
p.m.
