Drazin Named NEC Rookie of the Week
The freshman earns her first NEC honor Monday after helping lead CCSU to a 2-2 weekend.
Sarah Drazin of the Central Connecticut softball team picked up her first career NEC honor on Monday. The freshman was named NEC Rookie of the Week for her part in helping lead CCSU to a 2-2 NEC weekend.
Drazin enjoyed a breakout performance for the Blue Devils on the road this past week in back-to-back doubles with NEC foes Saint Francis U and Robert Morris. She finished second on the squad with a .308 batting average, .615 slugging percentage and .308 on base percentage.
Overall, she helped lead the CCSU offense going 4-for-13 at the plate with a double, a homer, one run and three RBI in a tough NEC competition weekend. To date, the freshman has tallied three doubles and two home runs in the DH spot this season.
Drazin and the rest of the Blue Devils return to action this Wednesday, April 23 for a doubleheader at UMass-Lowell before returning home Sunday, April 27, to close NEC competition with a doubleheader against Mount St. Mary's starting at 12 p.m. The Mountaineers are currently ranked second in the NEC with a 7-3 conference record, just above CCSU in third at 9-5.
