Men's Soccer Has Rally Fall Short to Robert Morris on Sunday
Central Connecticut will travel to Mount St. Mary's on Friday.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team had a late rally come up short in Northeast Conference play, falling to Robert Morris, 3-1, on Sunday at CCSU Soccer Field. The Colonials built a three-goal lead, including a pair by Riccardo Rota, before senior Eddie Yepes got one back for the Blue Devils late in the second half. Central Connecticut will travel to Mount St. Mary's on Friday.

KEY MOMENTS
- Rota opened the scoring in the third minute when he took down a long pass from Oeyvind Skjesol and put a shot inside the right goalpost.
- Michael Petitti doubled the RMU lead in the 60th minute when he broke in on goal. His first shot was stopped, but the rebound bounced back to him and he scored to make it 2-0.
- Rota got his second of the day to make it 3-0 when Cristian Palermo slipped him a pass and he was alone in front of goal for an uncontested score at 74:31.
- Yepes got CCSU on the scoreboard with 12 minutes to play when freshman Jamie Simpson chipped a pass behind the RMU defense and Yepes took it down and put his shot to the far post for the final scoreline.

13 – CCSU had 13 shots on the day and was narrowly outshot, 14-13.

- CCSU Men's Soccer is celebrating its 50th season of varsity competition in 2019. Alumni of the program were recognized at halftime, including the first men's soccer head coach John Webster.
- Robert Morris is 5-1 in the last six games against CCSU.
- Yepes (1 G, 3 A) leads the Blue Devils in scoring on the year, while Simpson is second with a goal and assist.
- Sophomore Jason Dubrovich made three saves for Central.
- Simpson had a team-high five shots.
- CCSU held an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.
