Sophomore Forward Ken Horton Named Second-Team All-Northeast Conference on Tuesday
Sophomore forward Ken Horton was named to the Northeast Conference Second-Team, it was announced on Thursday morning in the pre-tournament media conference call. Horton, who led the Blue Devils in scoring this season averaging 16.6 points per game, is the leading active scorer for the Blue Devils with over 800 career points. He started 26 of 27 games played in his second season in New Britain and led the Blue Devils with 29 three-pointers.
Sophomore forward Ken Horton was named to the Northeast
Conference Second-Team, it was announced on Thursday morning in the
pre-tournament media conference call. Horton, who led the Blue
Devils in scoring this season averaging 16.6 points per game, is
the leading active scorer for the Blue Devils with over 800 career
points. He started 26 of 27 games played in his second season in
New Britain and led the Blue Devils with 29 three-pointers.
Horton, an All-Rookie Team selection last season for the Blue
Devils, hit a team-best 92 free-throws on the year and led in total
rebounds (158), offensive rebounds (92) and blocks (44). He has
scored 449 points so far this season, including 230 in conference
action.
Horton now has 817 career points entering Thursday night's NEC
Quarterfinal game at Sacred Heart. He has now posted
double-figures in 42 of 55 career games with the Blue Devils and
has scored 16 or more in 17 of 27 games this season. He has 19
career games with 20 or more points. Earlier this season he became
the first player in CCSU's Division I history to posted 18 or more
points in the first five games of the season.
Horton's 44 blocks this season give him 107 in his career, becoming
the fifth player in school history with 100 career blocks.
Earlier this season he moved past Byron Smith (103) into fourth
place in school history.
The Blue Devils, playing in their 11th straight NEC Tournament, the
longest active streak in the league, will play at #3 Sacred Heart
on Thursday night at 7 p.m. The game can be heard live on ESPN
