J'Von Brown Named to Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team
Central Connecticut senior offensive lineman J'Von Brown was named to the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Third Team on Monday. Brown has collected preseason All-America honors in each of the previous two seasons. A two-time All-Northeast Conference First Team selection, Brown was one of four NEC student-athletes named on the three teams.
STATS PERFORM PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA RELEASE
Brown was a Hero Sports FCS Preseason All-America Second Team selection last season before Central opted out of the 2020-21 season. He named a STATS FCS Preseason All-American, Athlon Preseason FCS All-America and Preseason All-Northeast Conference in 2019 before having his season cut short by injury.. He earned a Second Team STATS FCS All-America selection as a junior in 2018.
Brown, who earned All-Conference, All-ECAC and All-New England honors, helped anchor an offensive line that allowed the Blue Devils to post 289.3 rushing yards per game in six conference games in 2018. They had 2,460 total rushing yards on the season and posted the nation's 21st best rushing attack at 223.6 yards per game on the ground. They also allowed just eight sacks in 11 games, a mark 0.73 sacks per game on the year and the seventh best total in the entire country. The Blue Devils led the country allowing just 32 tackles for a loss in the entire season. The 2019 CCSU offense lead the NEC in scoring, total offense and rushing. Central averaged 214.2 yards on the ground, which ranked 17th nationally.
Central is coming off a school-record 11-2 mark in the 2019 season and were 7-0 in Northeast Conference play to win the NEC crown. The Blue Devils ranked 22nd in the season-ending Top 25 poll and advanced to the FCS Playoffs for the second time in school history.
