Rafter Wins Individual at Marist Invitational; Women's Cross Country Places Third

The Central Connecticut women's cross country team placed third at the season-opening Marist Invitational on Saturday at Vassar Farm in Poughkeepsie, NY. Senior Angie Rafter won the individual title, completing the course in 18:17.7 to win by nine seconds over the field of 64 runners..

• Sophomore Brooke Morabito earned a top-five finish, running the course in 18:51.7 to place fifth.

• Junior Ashley Dana placed 13th in a time of 19:16.1.

• Freshman Juliana Cancellieri (20:09.3) and freshman Maggie Loshiavo (20:15.9) also scored for Central.

• Sophomore Kayla Cohen rounded out the CCSU runners, running a time of 20:55.3.

NOTES

• The Blue Devils had a score of 71 points to place third. Connecticut placed first with 31 points.
