Volleyball Opens Season at Colgate
The Central Connecticut volleyball team will open the 2013 season at Colgate on Friday.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team will open the 2013 season at the Colgate Invitational on Friday. The Blue Devils will play St. John's at 4 p.m. and then will play the host Colgate at 7 p.m. CCSU will conclude the tournament with a match against Binghamton on Saturday.

The 2012 season was a successful campaign for the Blue Devils. An 18-13 overall record, a 10th consecutive NEC Tournament appearance and a semifinal victory over Robert Morris are some of the highlights from a year ago.
Linda Sagnelli enters her 14th season as head coach of the Blue Devils with a solid group of veteran players and five newcomers.
First Team All-NEC selection and NEC Rookie of the Year Makenna Lommori and senior Veronika Ban will lead the squad and have been named team captains. Juniors Rachel Dunlap and Second Team All-NEC selection Brittany Schumacher will also be expected to contribute heavily. As will seniors Kyla Bielert and Amalia Ashley and sophomores Heather Trueman and Ashley Lenington.
The Blue Devils will also feature five freshman in Cassidy Stankowski, Brooke Schwab, Nicole Dean, Rachel Fish and Katie Wirth.
CCSU will also play on the road in tournaments at Sacramento State and Dartmouth prior to opening the home slate with the CCSU Blue Devil Invitational on September 20-21.
