Central Claims Victory Against Wagner
The Blue Devils gathered victories in 13 of 16 events against Wagner College.
The Central Connecticut swimming & diving team bested Wagner 184.5 to 113.5 in dual-meet action on Saturday. The Blue Devils came away with wins in 13 of the 16 events. Wagner hosted the dual-meet which took place in Staten Island, NY.
Senior Alex Czaplicki, sophomore Kristina Gulia, junior Katie Lang, and sophomore Helene Neuhaus set the tempo for the Blue Devils in the 400 yard medley relay winning the event in a time of 24.59.
Winning the 1,000 yard freestyle was sophomore Kasey Chilton who touched the wall at 10:37.87. Neuhaus claimed the 50 yard freestyle (25.13) and the 100 yard backstroke (1:00.12). Lang earned the first place seat in the 200 yard butterfly (2:10.86) and the 100 yard butterfly (1:00.42). Junior Allison Rasile won the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 2:08.66. Gulia took the 200 yard breaststroke touching the wall at 2:25.72. Junior Taylor Friedmann dominated the 500 yard freestyle capping the victory with a time of 5:11.60. Czaplicki also claimed a win in the 200 yard IM (2:10.87).
Doing the work on the boards for the Blue Devils was senior Madison Vestergaard who won the 1m diving event with a mark of 239.92. Her second victory of the day came in the 3m diving event as she dominated with a score of 230.62.
Central returns to action on February 22nd through the 25th competing in the Northeast Conference Championships at MIT in Boston, MA.
