Jaclyn Babe Named Second Team All-NEC
Junior Jaclyn Babe earned second team All-NEC honors with her play this year.
Central Connecticut junior Jaclyn Babe was named second team All-Northeast Conference on Wednesday morning. The 5-8 guard led the Blue Devils in scoring in her first season after sitting out last year as a transfer.
The Pittsburgh native totaled 446 points, which stands as the sixth best single-season mark in program history.
In addition to being one of the Blue Devils top scorers, Babe also ranked among the NEC's best. Her 15.9 points per game were seventh in the conference. She also dished out 80 assists giving her a 2.86 per game average that ranked 11th in the NEC and her 1.96 steals per game were also 11th in the conference.
Babe's consistent free throw shooting, she was 74-of-87 on the season, gave her an 85.1% mark from the line that ranked her third among NEC players. She was also a 41% shooter from the field and had a 32% mark from beyond the arc.
In all, she finishes the season with an impressive stat line of 15.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. She totaled 446 points, 134 rebounds, 80 assists, 55 steals and six blocks in 28 games.
Babe finishes the 2011-12 season with seven 20-point games. She also scored in double-digits in 25 of her 28 games played this season.
She led the NEC with 35.79 minutes per game. She played 1,002 minutes over her 28 games to reach that mark.
"Jackie did so much for us on the court this season," said head coach Beryl Piper. "Obviously she did a great job scoring the basketball, but she also rebounded and distributed the ball well. Her work ethic and leadership have been valuable for this team dating back to last season when she sat out as a transfer. The work she put in over the summer to improve her shooting really paid off. I am proud of her accomplishments this year."
Babe served as a team captain this season, having been selected by her teammates before ever playing a game with the Blue Devils.
