Klukowski Named To ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 First Team
Senior captain Yan Klukowski was awarded for his work on and off the field, receiving ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 honors. Klukowski earned a first team spot for his accomplishments this year. The Wiltshire, England native is a physical education major and will now be placed on the National Ballot for consideration for Academic All-American.

consideration for Academic All-American.
Since arriving in New Britain, Klukowski has played a major role in
the Blue Devils' success. Klukowski, the 2005 Northeast Conference
Rookie of the Year, led the nation is assists in his sophomore
season with 0.73 per game. In that same season, the midfielder was
awarded All-NEC first team honors for the second time along with
being recognized on the second team NSCAA/adidas All-North Atlantic
Region team.
In his junior campaign, Klukowski received first team All-North
Atlantic Region honors and second team All-NEC honors while leading
the Blue Devils to their first ever NEC Championship. He scored a
team high eight goals and six assists, leading the Northeast
Conference in the latter. The star midfielder brought CCSU to the
Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, recording the first ever NCAA
victory for Central Soccer.
During the summer of 2007 Klukowski was selected to represent Great
Britain in the World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand. The
team was compiled of 20 players, Klukowski being the second in Blue
Devil history to represent CCSU at this prestigious event.
This season Klukowski remains at the top of his game, currently
leading the Blue Devils with eight goals and five assists. He has
been named NEC Player of the Week twice this year and was honored
with a College Soccer News National Team of the Week selection for
his three goal outing against St. Bonaventure.
Klukowski and the Blue Devils are 6-6-2 and will continue their
season this Friday on the road against St. Francis (PA) at 2:30
p.m. CCSU will continue the road trip on Sunday with a match
against Robert Morris at 1:00 p.m. The Blue Devils will return
home for the final time, hosting Mount St. Mary's and Monmouth on
November 7 and 9, respectively.
