Volleyball Falls to Rutgers
CCSU volleyball dropped the opening match of the UConn Challenge on Friday in a sweep to Rutgers.

KEY MOMENTS
- Rutgers jumped out to an early lead in the first set, but CCSU took advantage of three straight errors to draw closer. The Scarlet Knights tore off a 9-1 run, however, that proved too large to overcome. Rutgers took set one 25-12.
- The Blue Devils again kept things close through to start the second set, this time using three straight service aces. Rutgers had a strong late push again that capped off the second set.
- Central came close to stealing the third set thanks to some gritty play late. The Scarlet Knights had match point at 24-19, but the Blue Devils stormed back to within one after two clutch kills from senior Emma Henderson. Rutgers put the nail in the coffin with a kill.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
8 Freshman Nyjha Marcelin scored a team-best eight kills in the match against Rutgers. The rookie leads the Blue Devils in kills so far this season.

CCSU will play in two more games on Saturday as a part of the UConn Challenge. They will play the host Huskies at 12:30 p.m. before taking on Lafeyette at 3:30 p.m.
