Women's Track Competes in Colonial Relays
CCSU competes next Saturday at UConn in the Northeast Challenge.
The Central Connecticut women's track team traveled to Williamsburg, VA to compete in the 53rd Annual Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William and Mary. The teams competed against athletes from over 50 other colleges and universities.
Senior Sierra Nesmith won the women's 400 meter hurdles with an impressive time of 1:01.83. She also came in fourth place in the triple jump with a leap of 11.83 meters. Junior Megan Brawner set a new personal best in the women's 1,500 meter run beating her previous time of 4:33.38 with 4:32.57 earning her a fifth place finish in the event.
Junior Taylor Davis ran the 200 meter dash in 27.03 seconds for a 47th place finish. In the 800 meter run, rookie Ashley Dana finished in 2:26.14 in 17th place.
In the 100 meter hurdles, junior Hailey Rospierski came in eighth place with a time of 14.88 seconds. Rospierski also competed in the high jump, along with senior McKenna Kilian and junior Kadizha Benjamin. Kilian came in fifth place with a height of 1.56 meters. Rospierski and Benjamin recorded heights of 1.50 and 1.46 meters respectively.
Kilian also finished sixth in the women's long jump with a height of 5.17 meters.
The team competes next Saturday, April 13, in Storrs, CT at the UConn Northeast Challenge.
