The Central Connecticut women's track and field team is scheduled to compete this weekend, May 3-4, in the 2014 NEC Outdoor Championships in Coraopolis, PA. This year's competition is hosted by Robert Morris University. The women's events are scheduled to begin at 9:25 a.m. on Saturday with the 10,000m run.
Fans can follow all of the action via the @NECTrack Twitter account as well as via LIVE STATS.
Last season, CCSU finished seventh out of 12 teams at the NEC Championships. Junior Ronea Saunders looks to reclaim her 2012 title in the high jump event. The three-year Blue Devil fell short last year at the outdoor competition, taking the silver in the event. Saunders has been named NEC Field Athlete of the Week twice this outdoor season.
Last year, highlights from the championships included a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay and fourth-place finishes by senior Shelby Tuttle and freshman Chelse Terry. The duo are scheduled to be back in action this year as they look to improve upon their 2013 finishes.
Tuttle, who finished the 100m hurdles at last year's championships in 14.57 seconds, bested her own previous career record this season. She posted a time of 14.41 seconds at the AIC Yellow Jacket Invitational on April 5.
