Garber will compete in the 100 Breaststroke on Friday, March 17, and the 200 Breaststroke on Saturday, March 18. Both days events begin at 10 a.m.
"This is a great day for Maddy and for our program," head coach Bill Ball said on Wednesday. "Her hard work led her to the Olympic Trials last summer, and now the NCAA Championships. It says a lot about the hard work that every swimmer and diver in our program puts in every day."
The 100 yard breaststroke is an event in which she holds the school and conference record. She swam the event in 1:00.01 in the preliminary round of the 2017 NEC Championships two weeks ago. Garber also won the 200 yard breaststroke and is the school record holder in that event.
Garber's time was the 27th fastest time of all of the qualifiers for the 100 breaststroke. She is 58th in the 200.
She is the first CCSU swimmer to advance to the NCAA Championships since Jamie Crowley participated in 2005 and 2006. Hall of Famer Tammie Repass also competed in the NCAA's for the Blue Devils in 2002.
