Swim & Dive Opens Season at Home Saturday
The Blue Devils will face LIU Post in a dual-meet on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team will open the 2013-14 season this Saturday, Oct. 12, at home in the Jack Suydam Natatorium. The dual-meet against LIU Post is set to begin at 1 p.m. and admission to the meet is free of charge.
Central enters the season coming off of a fourth-place finish at the 2013 Northeast Conference Championships.
The Blue Devils are returning 14 members of last year's squad, including NEC Diving Champion Jessica Goldman. Goldman placed first in both the 3-meter and 1-meter events at the 2013 NEC Championships as a freshman and earned NEC Diver of the Meet for her impressive performance. Goldman also broke both the 1-meter and 3-meter freshman records in her inaugural season.
This season, the Blue Devils begin with Saturday's home meet before traveling to Rutgers on Oct. 18-19 to compete at the Sonny Werblin Invitational. Following their road stint, CCSU returns home for three-consecutive home meets: the Blue Devil Diving Invitational on Oct. 26, Bryant/New Hampshire on Nov. 2 and Vermont/Merrimack on Nov. 16. The remaining home meet will be on Jan. 25 against conference foes Sacred heart and St. Francis Brooklyn.
The NEC Championships are scheduled for Feb. 19-22 at MIT in Boston, MA.
