Women's Golf Wraps Up Play at Brown Bear Invitational
McLean places eighth to lead the Blue Devils
Freshman Meghan McLean tied for eighth overall and the Central Connecticut women's golf team placed 10th at the Brown Bear Invitational, which finished on Monday. The two-day tournament was held at Ledgemont Country Club in Seekonk, MA, and the field included 11 teams.
Seton Hall won the team title and was led by individual champion Mia Ness, who defeated teammate Madeline Sager on the fourth playoff hole, to lead the Pirates.
McLean shot a 75 in the second round and finished the event with a two-day total of 146 (71-75). She finished just five strokes behind the leaders.
Freshman Olivia Gardenhour also shot a 75 on day two, and finished the tournament tied for 34th. She finished the the tournament with 157 (82-75).
Senior Tara Whelan was just behind in 37th place with a two-day score of 158 (78-80). Freshmen Alexa Brown and Roxanne Garceau (91) rounded out the scoring for the Blue Devils, finishing in 59th and 63rd place. Brown shot a two-day score of 174 (89-85) and Garceau finished with a 185 (91-94).
The Blue Devils finished with a team score of 635. Seton Hall won the event with a team score of 569.
Central will conclude the fall season at the Lehigh Invitational on Oct. 22-23.
