Bio

Carolyn Biel has been a volunteer assistant coach of the Central Connecticut softball team since the fall of 2023. Biel played softball at Central in 2019 and most recently for the 2023 Division Three National Champions, Trine University. 

As a player at Central Connecticut Biel was a walk-on who saw the field 6 times with one at-bat. In her six appearances, she remained perfect with a 1.000 fielding percentage in 26 chances at first base for the Blue Devils. 

The Wallingford, CT native played the majority of her softball career for the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut for Coach Diana Pepin. In two seasons at Eastern, she was a part of two LEC Championships, a regional and super regional championship, and helped break the school record for most wins in a single season in 2022 (51). In her time there she hit .312, slugged .484, and notched a .444 on-base percentage. As a junior, Biel made 26 starts in 28 games and was named All-LEC(Little East Conference) first team and All-Region third team (third base). As a captain in her Senior year, she made 46 appearances and went to the 2022 DIII National Tournament with ECSU where they finished 5th in Salem, VA.

She finished her career with a semester at Trine University, the national DIII runners-up in 2022, coached by Donnie Danklefsen where Trine broke their school record for most wins in a season with 46. Biel posted a .313 average and a .476 on-base percentage. The last hit of Biel's career was a walk-off single that won the 2023 DIII National Title for Trine University. 

Before Central, Biel played softball at Mark T. Sheehan High School. She was named the Female Athlete of the Year in her class in 2018. She was named to the All-SCC (Southern Connecticut Conference) second team her junior year and first-team All-SCC her senior year. The catcher was selected to the Record Journal All-Scholatic Team in 2017-2018.

Biel is the Director of Softball Operations for Diamond Zone out of North Haven Connecticut. She also serves as the Communication and Media Services Graduate Intern at CCSU (Primary sport contact for women's basketball, women's soccer, cross country/track and field, and softball).
