Whittaker, Budge Receive Weekly Honors

Central Connecticut State University cross country's Sam Whittaker and Aidan Budge have been named the Northeast Conference Cross Country Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.
Central Connecticut State University cross country's Samuel Whittaker has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week. Aidan Budge has been named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. They are two of three Blue Devils who earned NEC Prime Performer after the team captured first place at the Paul Short Invitational, all finishing in the top 25 for the 8K race.
Whittaker placed second out of 400 at the invitational, with a run of 24:42.9. He was the Blue Devils' top finisher. Whittaker is a transfer graduate student from Bucknell where he competed in the Patriot League.
Budge placed seventh, the top rookie performance, at the invitational, with a run of 25:12.5. He was the Blue Devils second finisher.
Samuel Whittaker was the team's top finisher, with a run of 24:42.9 good for second place. Aidan Budge was recognized as Rookie of the Week and placed seventh with a run of 25:12.5. Yankarlos Diaz ran 25:23.9 for 21st place earning him a spot on the NEC Prime Performer list.
The Blue Devils are back in action on October 13th when they travel to compete in the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
