Piotto Earns Second NEC Weekly Honor
Roberto Piotto was named men's cross country Athlete of the Week for the second time.
The Northeast Conference announced junior Roberto Piotto as the Northeast Conference Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, it was announced by league office Thursday afternoon.
Piotto competed in CCSU's Mini Meet to warm up for the 2018 NEC Championships, and finished as conference's top runner with fifth place result in a field of 87. The Glastonbury, CT native completed his 5k home course in 14:59.3 to outpace runners from schools that included UNH, Yale, Dartmouth, UMass Lowell, UMass Amherst, Siena, Hartford, and conference rival Bryant. He fell short only to competitors from American and Big East foe Providence. Piotto is finishing off a successful campaign for him in which he's placed in top five for all four events of the 2018 season.
The Blue Devils look to earn their 10th straight NEC title at the Northeast Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27 hosted at Bryant University in Smithfield, RI.
