Hertzog, Trainor Collect ECAC Cross Country Weekly Honors
Junior Ryan Hertzog and freshman Austin Trainor added to their weekly awards, earning ECAC Division I weekly honors on Wednesday afternoon.
Junior Ryan Hertzog and freshman Austin Trainor added to their collection of honors this week, picking up Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Cross Country Weekly Awards for their respective performances this past Saturday at the New England Championships. Hertzog was named the ECAC Runner of the Week and Trainor was tabbed the ECAC Rookie of the Week, the league front office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Hertzog, who was also named the NEC Co-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, paced the Blue Devils this past Saturday at the New England Championships in Boston, MA with a seventh place overall finish out of 252 total runners to earn the ECAC Runner of the Week nod. He completed the 8K course at Franklin Park with a time of 24:47.7, which marks the fastest 8K time in the conference so far this fall. The award is the first for Hertzog in his career.
Also earning his first career ECAC award, Trainor recieves the ECAC Rookie of the Week award after crossing the finish line second for the Blue Devils in 80th place out of 252 competitors at the New England Championships. The freshman navigated the course in 25:53.0 to earn the result.
Hertzog, Trainor and the rest of the CCSU men's cross country team will return to action in two weeks as they return home on Friday, October 23 for the CCSU Mini Meet. The meet will be held at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT and is scheduled to kickoff at 4 p.m.

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) is the nation's largest and only multi-divisional conference, with approximately 300 Division I, II and III colleges and universities from Maine to South Carolina and westerly to Missouri.
