Alexander Leads Men's XC at Ted Owen
Alexander earned a third place finish with a time of 25:30 on the soggy 8K course at Stanley Park.

Senior Sam Alexander finished third at the Ted Owen Invitational on Saturday morning. His performance led the Central Connecticut men's cross country team to a fourth place finish at the meet. The Blue Devils finished with a team score of 126.
Alexander earned his third place finish with a time of 25:30 on the soggy 8K course at Stanley Park. Seniors Anthony Gonsalves and Ben Lazarus were the next Blue Devils to cross the finish line. Gonsalves posted a 27:18 mark and Lazarus a 27:47 time. They finished 16th and 26th, respectively.
Finishing fourth for the Blue Devils was sophomore Andrew Hill. He finished 29th in a time of 27:50. Completing Central's scorecard was freshman Brian Biekert, who posted a time of 28:56 to finished 52nd.
Northeastern claimed the team title with a score of 33. American International and Connecticut also finished ahead of the Blue Devils. Hartford claimed fifth place and Wagner, Rhode Island, Bryant, Marist and Fairleigh Dickinson completed the field.
American International's Glarius Rop took the individual title with a time of 24:55. That mark placed him only five second off former Blue Devil Ry Sanderson's Stanley Park course record of 24:50, set at last year's Northeast Conference Championships.
Earlier in the morning, Central Connecticut assistant cross country coach Brad Dion took second place on the men's side of the third annual Ray Crothers Alumni Race.
The Blue Devils will return to action on October 8, when they travel to Boston for the New England Championships.
