Fruster Breaks 400m Record Saturday
Junior Jamal Fruster broke the CCSU 400m record, set in 1990 by Dave Rusnock, on Saturday at Boston University.
The Central Connecticut men's track and field team competed on Saturday at the Scarlet & White Invitational hosted by Boston University. Juniors Jamal Fruster and Brian Biekert raced for the Blue Devils.
Fruster notched the gold on Saturday, finishing first overall and setting a new CCSU record of 48.31. Fruster's time surpasses the 24-year old record of 48.39 set by Dave Rusnock in 1990.
His 400m time marks Fruster's second appearance in the CCSU indoor record book as he also holds 4x400m relay record, along with teammate Ryan Budd, and former teammates Dan Hopper and Nick Lindblom (3:17.15, 2013).
Biekert raced the one mile on Saturday, crossing the finish line in 4:11.56 for the bronze. Biekert also holds a CCSU record. Earlier this season, he posted a time of 4:06.05 in the mile.
The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday, February 22 at the USA Track & Field (USATF) Championships in Albuquerque, NM.
