Men's Soccer to Host Clinic and Charity Game This Saturday

This Saturday, May 1, the Central Connecticut men's soccer team will be holding a skills clinic during the afternoon and playing against the Western Mass. Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. The exhibition game will be to benefit the Cameron Greenwood Fund.

Floyd and Guimaraes to Play in NEISL Senior Game

Central Connecticut seniors Eddie Floyd and Raphael Guimaraes have been selected to participate in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League Senior All-Star Game. Floyd and Guimaraes will join players from all NCAA Divisions to play the all-star game at Clark University in Worcester, MA. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 1 at 2:00 p.m.

Robert Cavener Earns All-Region Honors For Second Straight Season

Central Connecticut State University junior captain Robert Cavener received National Soccer Coaches Association of America #$%^All-North Atlantic Region honors for the second straight season. Cavener, a central midfielder for the Blue Devils, was a #$%^second team selection, as announced by the NSCAA.

Cavener Named First Team All-Northeast Conference

Central Connecticut State University junior captain Robert Cavener received All-Northeast Conference honors for the second straight season on Thursday. Cavener was a first team selection, as announced at the conference's banquet on the eve of the league tournament to be held at Monmouth this weekend.

Men's Soccer Drops Season Finale to Quinnipiac 1-0 on Friday Night

The Central Connecticut State University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision in its final game of the 2009 season on Friday night. The game was played under the lights at Arute Field, the first night soccer game to be held on that field since it opened nine years ago. With the loss the Blue Devils finish the season with a 6-10-1 overall record and a 1-8-1 in Northeast Conference play.

Friday's Game Changed to 6:00 PM on Arute Field

This Friday's Central Connecticut State University men's soccer game has been changed from a 2:00 p.m. start on the CCSU #$%^Soccer Field to a 6:00 p.m. kickoff on Arute Field. The schedule move was made because the CCSU women's soccer team will #$%^be hosting the Northeast Conference Tournament Semifinals on Friday. The two games are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 #$%^p.m. The men's squad will be hosting Quinnipiac in the final regular season game of the season on Friday. The Central seniors #$%^will be recognized for their accomplishments prior to the start of the contest.

Blue Devils Upended In Final Minute by The Mount, 2-1 (2OT)

Coming into Sunday's road game against Mount St. Mary's (6-9-1, 5-3-1), Central Connecticut State University (6-9-1, 1-7-1) had lost two out of the last three games on its schedule in the final minute of double overtime. The trend continued this afternoon. The Mountaineers scored the game-winning goal with only 17 seconds remaining in the game to win 2-1 (2OT) over the Blue Devils in Emmitsburg, MD. Junior midfielder Connor Smith scored his first goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1 in only the fifth minute of play.

Cavener Earns CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I Honors

Junior captain Robert Cavener was awarded for his work on and off the field, receiving CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 honors. Cavener earned a first team spot for his accomplishments this year. The Tynemouth, England native is a pre-finance major and will now be placed on the National Ballot for consideration for Academic All-American.

CCSU Falls to #14 Monmouth on the Road

Monmouth, ranked #14 in the nation, defeated Central Connecticut State University by a score of 3-0 on Friday afternoon. The Hawks received goals from Cesar Blacido, Ryan Kinne and Cody Calafiore to improve to 14-1-1 on the season. CCSU falls to 6-8-1 this year and 1-6-1 in the Northeast Conference.

Blue Devils Fall to LIU in Final Minute of Overtime

The Central Connecticut State University men's soccer team dropped its second straight double overtime defeat, falling to Long Island by a score of 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Blackbirds scored in the final minute of the second overtime to leave New Britain with the win and improve to 6-9-0 on the season and 3-4-0 in the Northeast Conference. With the loss CCSU falls to 6-7-1 this year, and hold a 1-5-1 NEC record. The Blue Devils will be on the road for their next two games, challenging Monmouth on Friday October 30 and taking on Mount St. Mary's on November 1.

Late Goal Gives St. Francis (NY) 3-2 (2OT) Win Over CCSU

The Central Connecticut State University men's soccer team scored two goals in a seven minute span during the second half, but it was not enough to hold off St. Francis (NY), as the Terriers defeated the Blue Devils by a score of 3-2 on a game-winning goal with eight seconds remaining in the second overtime. CCSU received goals from senior Raphael Guimaraes and junior captain Robert Cavener.

Ortiz Scores In Men's Soccer Loss at Fairleigh Dickinson

Three goals in the first 24 minutes of play led the Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team past Central Connecticut State University on Sunday afternoon in Teaneck, NJ. Sophomore Eduardo Ortiz scored the lone goal for the Blue Devils in the 38th minute of play. Junior captain Robert Cavener recorded an assist on the score.

CCSU Falls to Sacred Heart on the Road

The Central Connecticut State University men's soccer team was upended by Sacred Heart by a score of 2-0 on the road Friday night. The Blue Devils fall to 6-4-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in the Northeast Conference. CCSU goalkeeper Chris Jones recorded four saves in the loss. Central will next play on Sunday October 18 at 4:00 p.m. when they take on Fairleigh Dickinson.

Central Falls to Bryant In Double Overtime

The Central Connecticut State University men's soccer team fell to Bryant University 3-2 in its third double overtime game of the season on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils received goals from senior Raphael Guimaraes and sophomore Jared Spieker, as they fell to 6-3-1 on the season and dropped their first Northeast Conference game of the year.

Morgan Receives ECAC Offensive Player of the Week Accolades

CCSU freshman Taylor Morgan was named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his #$%^three goal, two assist outing in the last three games for the Blue Devils. Morgan led Central to an overall record of 2-0-1 and #$%^Northeast Conference record of 1-0-1 this week.

Morgan Earns adidas/Northeast Conference Weekly Honors

Central Connecticut State University freshman Taylor Morgan received adidas/Northeast Conference Co-Player of the Week and Co-Rookie of the Week honors, as he led the Blue Devils to a record of 2-0-1 this week. The forward tallied three goals and two assists to garner the first conference accolades of his career.
