Men's Golf in Fifth Place After Day One of Northeast Conference Championships
Sebastianelli leads CCSU in the first round with score of 70 (-2)
The Central Connecticut men's golf team shot a round one score of 295 and sits in fifth place after the first round of the Northeast Conference Championship on Friday. Sophomore Anthony Sebastianelli is in a tie for third place after shooting a day one score of 70 (-2).
The tournament is being held at the LPGA International Jones Course in Daytona Beach, FL. Friday's course measured 6,852 yards and was a par 72. Round two will take place on Saturday.
Wagner leads the nine-team field with a team score of 280 (-8), seven shots ahead of second place Bryant University (288). Sacred Heart is third (289), followed by Robert Morris (294), CCSU, LIU Brooklyn (298), St. Francis U (300), Fairleigh Dickinson (303) and St. Francis Brooklyn (357).
Sebastianelli shot a day one score of 70, good for -2 on the day, including four birdies. He began his round with a -2, 34, on the front nine, including three birdies and one bogey. He was even on the back nine. Sebastianelli sits in a tie for third place, three shots behind tournament leader Anton Frondelius (-5) of Wagner.
Senior Jack Ayers finished the round at +1, shooting 73, including a 36 on the front nine. He began his round with a double bogey but rebounded to shoot -1 over the final 17 holes, including an eagle on the par-4 eighth hole. He is tied for 12th place overall.
Junior Bryant Bolden shot 76 on Friday, shooting 37 on the front nine and 39 on the back. He had a pair of birdies on the front nine. He is tied for 25th place.
Sophomore Brandon Raine also shot a 76 and is tied for 25th place, shooting 37 on the front side and 39 on the back. He had a pair of birdies including one of the 18th hole to finish his first round.
Junior Nick Direda shot 79 with a 39 on the front and a 40 on the back. He had a birdie on the ninth hole. He is in 37th place.
The second round of the championships will tee off on Saturday morning.
